08 Feb Guide to DI 2013: FilmFest
Along with the conference and expo, the Design Indaba is bringing us a programme of even more inspiration with their 2013 FilmFest. The stellar selection includes some of the best design, art, fashion, film, dance and music documentaries from around the world.
Opening on the 17th of February and running till 3 March, a new film will be screened every evening at 20:30 for just R35 a ticket, and it’s all happening at a rooftop cinema with Table Mountain as the backdrop.
According to Design Indaba, these are the highlights:
A must-see on the programme is Big Easy Express, which documents the extraordinary musical journey of folkrock and indie rock bands Mumford & Sons, Old Crow Medicine Show and, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros as they depart on a “tour of dreams” on a train across America.
Morgan Spurlock’s latest offering, Comic-Con: Episode IV – A Fan’s Hope, travels with five attendees descending on the comic-lover’s biggest annual pop culture event.
Marina Abramović: The Artist is Present follows the fearless and outrageous quest of Abramović as she transforms herself into a live form of art, challenging the audience and pushing herself beyond various limits.
The celebrated and influential fashion editor of Harpers Bazaar, Diana Vreeland views herself as the one and only fashion editor. Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel documents her life and her work, as somebody who defined style and beauty for a new generation.
