07 Mar Out of Office | The IT Corner
Like the name implies, The IT Corner looks out onto 4th and 7Th Avenue in Melville, Johannesburg. This unpretentious spot provides independent workers with everything they might need from an office including Wi-Fi, but in a coffee shop setting.
“We take the best of both café and office and wrap it up in a cool urban space.”
The café is spacious and light, with big windows that open onto the street giving it a real pavement culture atmosphere. The staff are friendly, and serve up simple meals, cakes and good, strong Marrakesh coffee. If you’re feeling a little jittery from too many cups of joe, the Moroccan mint ice tea is well worth a try too. The IT Corner offers full workstation services, including laptop rental, technical support, printing and scanning, and meeting room hire. Their aim is to provide freelancers with an office outside of the office.
Free Wi-Fi access is available in hourly sessions, where you are encouraged to purchase items from the menu to receive further Internet access. The IT Corner attracts a mixed and varied bunch of people, from students (it’s just up the road from UJ) to artists, writers, designers and business people. It’s unassuming, and a welcome change from the more trendy coffee shops where people tend to socialise more than they do work.
