19 Apr Fridays@4 – Dove Real Beauty Sketches Parody
The New Feelings Time crew have created a parody of Dove’s Real Beauty Sketches campaign that went viral this week. In the original, below, an FBI trained forensic artist draws the portraits of women he’s never seen based solely on their descriptions of themselves, and descriptions of them from relative strangers. The resulting images portray the message of the campaign, that women are more beautiful than they think.
The description of the video reads: Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. At Dove, we are committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.
In this comedic parody, the women are replaced with men. And the blurb goes: Men are not their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of men around the world consider themselves average looking. At New Feelings Time, we are committed to creating a world where illegitimate beauty is not a source of confidence. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how men view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.
