19 Jun Update: Am I Collective
Illustration house Am I Collective recently received news that they won a bronze at Cannes for their light-hearted, monochromatic print campaign created in conjunction with Impact BBDO, Dubai for Maltesers. The 3 executions depict the up-side of terrible scenarios completed with the pay-off line, “Life’s Lighter with Maltesers.”
Following their international win, we took a look at some of the other note-worthy work they’ve done over the last half-year or so.
Also illustrated in a monochromatic colour scheme, Am I Collective created a poster series promoting the limited edition colour jerseys the teams played in during the NBA’s Big Color series. Each poster features one of the teams’ main players made up of various layers. Each layer was created by illustrating cultural iconography and geographical landmarks relevant to that specific city, blending them together through textures and overlays. The teams represented were the Brooklyn Nets, New York Nicks, Miami Heat, Oklahoma Thunder and the Los Angeles Lakers. One of the posters enjoyed a quick feature as a billboard in a NBA commercial starring and directed by Spike Lee.
Another poster series done by Am I was in a Russion Constructivist style for the launch of the new chocolate bricks from Rocher. More recently they illustrated a print campaign by Rothco, Ireland for Tiger beer celebrating Chinese New Year. The concept was developed around the idea of giving presents to family and friends on the first day of the new year.
The last project we’ve featured here is their children’s colouring book project. Artists and illustrators can submit their drawings for the colouring-in books within three categories – Am I a hero?, Am I an Adventurer? or Am I an Animal? The books will be made available for free download online and with the help of sponsors will hopefully be printed to distribute to disadvantaged communities. Find out more at amibook.tumblr.com.
