CT Type, or Cape Town Typography, is a new site collectively celebrating the signage around the city of Cape Town. Inspired by NYC Type, the site was started by Rowan Eva and features all photographs tagged with #CTTYPE on Twitter and Instagram. The unconventional ‘about’ section shows a tweet by tweet account of the origins of the project.
Rowan is also the guy behind the daily Noonday Tune and the Woodstock Numbers project. He encourages all to get involved with CT Type, saying, “While I’ve set up the site, and submitted quite a bit of the content to get it off the ground, the project is meant to crowd source photographs from everyone and anyone that’s keen to contribute.”
Graphic designers @highartlowlife, @luckyredundies and @jordan_metcalf have helped kick off the project with some of the first contributions. It has been receiving a fantastic response since. With their store in busy Bree Street, @skinnylaminx has also been a major participant.
We’ve chosen some our favourite submissions to show you here.
