M-Net Movies Brings Superheroes to Your City

For their latest campaign by Retroviral Digital Communications, M-Net Movies used social media to bring Superheroes to cities in South Africa.

The first thing they did was ask people how a superhero could brighten up their day, by getting guest bloggers from each city to post the campaign images. Using twitter, a whole bunch of interesting requests were gathered and tracked – helping M-Net figure out what South Africans wanted Superheroes to do for them.

After taking all the requests into account, the Superheroes rocked up in Jozi, Cape Town and Durban to put a smile on people’s faces. Batman helped cyclists stay cool in the heat, The Hulk kept parking spaces for people on Long Street, and Spiderman jumped off Moses Mabhida Stadium (after he cleaned up litter on the beach front).

Don’t worry if you missed the action the first time though – since they’ve already made an appearance in person, the Superheroes will be featuring on television this month. Every night at 19:00 for the whole month of October on M-Net Movies Showcase (DSTV channel 108.) If you’d like regular updates on the Superheroes movie schedules and insider info about the different heroes, follow @mnetmovies on Twitter.

  1. I’m surprised they got permission to use the characters on the visuals. Normally those are locked up tight by their respective rights owners. If not they could be looking at serious trouble.

  2. I believe TV networks get certain advertising rights when they purchase the content, so that they can promo the movies/tv series.
