Wishlist: Anthea Poulos

South Africa is jam-packed with exciting local designers and products, so why not buy local gifts this year? For our annual Wishlist series, we ask South African creatives to share their own wishlists of locally designed and made goods, to act as a gift-guide when you shop this festive season.

To kick off this year’s series, Anthea Poulos shared her own wishlist with us. Anthea is a Joburg-based youth culture specialist, and the blogger behind Anthea Knows Best.

Here’s what’s on her festive wishlist:

1.  A Subscription to NicSocks

First on my list is, without a doubt, a subscription to NicSocks – not only because you get a steady flow of socks throughout the year, but also because they did a beyond awesome collaboration with Daniel Ting Chong.

2. Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream

Since South Africans get to spend Christmas sun bathing, my next gift choice has to be some of Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream.  He changes flavours every couple weeks and literally has the most delicious ice cream in the city. Plus he delivers – SCORE!

3. A Swede & Crowe Cap

A Swede & Crowe cap has to be the next on my wishlist. As gifts I like to choose prints that represent different people. I’ll be traveling with 3 different ones this season – You can never have too many!

4. Ceramics from Ceramic Factory

This year my favourite ceramics are by Ceramic Factory. The designs are super fun, and there’s pretty much something for everyone.

5. Anything from RHTC online fashion store’s 2013/2014 Retrofontein collection.

If you’re into local fashion and you’re looking for something a little more authentic, check out RHTC. It’s an online store for real streetwear labels.

6. Any Jewelry by Henriette Botha

Henriette Botha‘s jewelry is my absolute favorite gift this Christmas. I’m completely in love with everything she makes!

7. Some Yswara Tea  and Candles.

Yswara Tea is luxurious and comes in the most insane combinations, including one with tiny rose buds. It’s extravagant but so so worth it. They also have a selection of candles if tea isn’t your thing.

Keep up with Anthea on her blog, Anthea Know Best and Twitter.
