Wishlist: Trevor Stuurman

For our Wishlist series we’ve been asking South African creatives to create a list of the locally crafted goods they’d like to get their hands on these holidays.

Next up we’ve got a Wishlist by Trevor Stuurman. Trevor is the man behind the lens of the local street fashion blog ‘Stuurman Style Diary.’ He graduated this year with a BA Degree in Motion Picture, and has recently finished his year as the very first Style Reporter for ELLE Magazine SA.

It’s no surprise, then, that we trust Trevor’s judgement when it comes to all things local and stylish – and that’s just what he gave us in this list of local things he’d like:

1. 2BOP Spring Summer 2013

My hero look for this Summer, the matchy matchy two piece suit completed with a matching bucket hat. Dig the fact Two Bop always sticks to their gaming narrative when it comes to their designs, look books and films. This makes fashion fun and also brings it closer to the heart.

2. Urban Mosadi x Did You Know

Urban Modadi
Urban Mosadi 3

It is this kind of proudly South African product that makes my heart sing. Urban Mosadi’s designs are culturally relevant to the African continent and the personalised camera straps are specially relevant to me. Love the fact that everything she designs is a limited range.

3. Rowdy

There is just something about modern classics… And Rowdy just does it so well.

4. Photograph by Lee-Roy Jason

I love Lee-Roy’s refreshing point of view and how layered his work is.

5. Indalo Decor

Trust-worthy luxury accessories made out of wood and cork – locally produced? Sounds like music to my ears. Appreciate the novelty in the craftsmanship of all the designs. (Indalo is available at The Old Buscuit Mill in Woodstock and at Mememe on Long Street.)

6. Illustration by Negritude Republic

Negritude Republic

A contemporary and creative celebration of fallen heroes. Winning.

7. Adriaan Kuiters x Jody Paulsen

Minimalism, structure, print and perfection. I am huge fan of creative collaborations, there’s an UBUNTU element about it which I love; sharing and creating.
