Connect ZA | Future Music Rising

In December last year Chris Saunders was commissioned by The British Council to produce a short web documentary about the finalists in the Connect ZA Future Music Rising competition.

Connect ZA is an arts programme from The British Council that aims to build cultural connections between young people in the UK and South Africa. One of their initiatives, Future Music Rising, saw 6 local bands battle it out for a chance to perform at the Roundhouse Rising festival (which is happening this month in London).

Saunders worked together with Adriaan Louw and Deon van Zyl from We-Are-Awesome film to complete the documentary which features Bateleur, The Watermark High, Andy Mkosi, Reason and the two winning acts: Wildebeats and The Brother Moves On.

During the filming process and the production, Saunders also shot a series of images of the bands:

The event will feature live DJ sets by Wildebeats, DJ JazzinMotion (Drummer – The Brother Moves On), Goldierocks, Murder He Wrote and Skelmton.

Date: Thursday, 6 February 2014
Time: 19:00
Venue: Kitchener’s Carvery Bar – Corner Juta and De Beer St, Braamfontein
