Inspired by Johannesburg, the city of gold, the sneaker showcases the best of the South African homeland to sneaker aficionados around the world.
The graphics make reference to the formidable Parktown Prawn, which has grown into a cultural icon due to its indestructability. The yellow and grey colourway of the sneaker reflects the colours of the local train system, and the stylized diamond symbol mimics the graphics of African tribal artworks.
Built with premium detailing and materials, the sneaker also boasts a collection of extras which include two interchangeable velcro options for the ‘N’ logo, a spare pair of black laces, a canvas carry bag and a rubber prawn keying.
“City of Gold” 574 will release in South Africa, through Shelflife, on 17 April 2014. Following soon after, the sneaker will be internationally available from 28 April 2014.
