Out of Office: The Outdoor Edition

In celebration of the last days of summer, this edition of Out of Office is dedicated to Cape Town’s outdoor spaces with free public WiFi. Yep, that’s right. Free WiFi, outdoors! Since the Mother City is showing off with perfect weather this week, why not head outside to get some out of the office work done.

The Sea Point Promenade

Thanks to Up Cycles and Connected Space, The Sea Point Pavilion next to the public pools offers 100MB of free WiFi each day.  Find a spot close to Up Cycles, grab a coffee (yes, soft serve is appropriate too) and enjoy the view. Call 072 979 5056 if you’re having trouble.

Beach Road, Cape Town.

Harrington Square

There’s free public WiFi in District Six, thanks to Cape Town Partnership, Connected Space, District Six Museum, Charly’s Bakery, Woodheads, and The Bank. Grab a seat (and a slice of cake, for a sugar-induced energy boost, of course) at Charly’s Bakery.

Corner of Canterbury Street and Caledon Street, Cape Town.

 The Company Gardens

Thanks to The City of Cape Town, Iziko Museums, The Cape Town Partnership and WiFi specialists Connected Space, visitors to the Company Gardens have 100MB of free data each day.

Look for the signs close to Company’s Garden Restaurant, choose Company Gardens Wifi, and you’ll get a URL to log in. This service is for social media, e-mails and general surfing, but don’t expect high-speed downloads. Call 072 979 5056 if you’re having trouble.

Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town.

St Andrew’s Square

Head to St Andrew’s Square, click on GreenPointCID- FreeWiFi, and you’re in. It’s really that simple. The WiFi is available throughout the square, but Truth Coffee at Prestwich Memorial has tables and delicious coffee, so grab a seat there.

Prestwich Memorial on St. Andrew’s Square, 1 Somerset Road, Green Point, Cape Town.

Oranjezicht City Farm

There’s free WiFi at OZCF’s market on a Saturday from 9am – 2pm, sponsored by Vanilla Internet Services. Don’t come here to get serious work done though, the treats on offer are way too distracting! But grab a coffee, find a spot on the grass and soak up the last of the summer sun while you get some out of the office work done.

Upper Orange Street, Oranjezicht.

Always remember, safety first!
