The InAWE Residency is our World Design Capital 2014 artist residency project in collaboration with InAWE Stays. Together we’re inviting eight local creatives to stay at InAWE Stays, a beautiful house right in the centre of the Mother City with the most ridiculous views of the Table Mountain. During the residency each artist will work on a unique piece inspired by the city and their stay here.
As one of World Design Capital 2014’s Headline Sponsors, Nokia joined the InAWE Residency too, and it’s a great fit since Nokia is renowned for their focus on visual storytelling.
Nokia is providing a Lumia 1520 for the artists during their stay, which they’ll use to complement their creative process. The artists will have the chance to use the Lumia 1520’s 20 Megapixles PureView camera, the dual LED flash and the Creative Studio’s exclusive (and surprisingly easy-to-use) editing tools to document and share some behind the scenes pictures of their work and stay at the residency.
Nokia is also making it possible for us to document the InAWE Residencies with beautifully shot videos by Josh Hayman, aka Man in Cape. The videos show artists working at InAWE, and how the Lumia 1520 enhances this creative process.
The six-inch, super-sensitive, full HD display of the Lumia 1520 makes it easy to use the editing tools on the phone itself, so we’ve decided to use the Lumia 1520 to shoot and edit some sneak-peek videos and pictures of the artists in residency too. Expect timelapse videos, cinemagraphs and photo stories, all done on the phone!
