01 Aug Oh Wow! – The iThemba Tower, Illustrated Portraits and Offbeat Diptychs.
Today we’re looking at some delightfully offbeat diptych photographs, an art installation in the making using 5000 recycled plastic bottles and a series of pen and watercolour portraits.
ONE – Diptychs by Luca Vincenzo.
TWO – ‘Compose’ and ‘Collect’ by Bruce Mackay for Salon 91’s Those Who Wander group exhibition.
THREE – Sequin peak cap by W3ST.
FOUR – Backstage photographs from MBFWCT by Michelle Viljoen (the creative director and photographer for Guys on Sidewalks).
FIVE – An informal series of pen and watercolour paintings by Kate Arthur based on pictures taken by her, people she knows, and which have appeared on social media.
SIX – Created in collaboration with Shortstraw, ‘Find A Way’ is the latest single from The Kiffness‘ new album KIFF.
SEVEN – Based on a previous installation created using recycled plastic bottles from the Zama-Zama (informal waste collectors), street artist r1 is teaming up with a group of artists to raise the ‘iThemba Tower’ in Troyeville. The 30m permanent art installation is being installed to strengthen the community of downtown Johannesburg, support the livelihood of informal Zama-Zamas and raise a general awareness around recycling.
Find out more about the project and how to support it on Indiegogo.
EIGHT – Andrew Sutherland illustrated portraits of Sean Metelerkamp, Sipho Mpongo and Wikus de Wet who are currently on the Twenty Journey.
