04 Aug Creative Women Show & Tell | An Evening of Talks Hosted by 10and5
We’re very excited for our next Show & Tell on Wednesday, 13 August, which is being held in celebration of Women’s Month!
The event will be taking place at Jozi Hub (44 Stanley) from 7-9pm, and you can sign-up below.
As an extension of our annual Creative Women series, we’ve aksed three of the women we have featured (and will be featuring) to come and share a bit of their process with us. They are:
Billie Zangewa | Artist working in silk tapestries
Billie Zangewa, a Malawi-born artist who has been living in Johannesburg for the past 17 years, will discuss her current series of tapestries and the themes and concerns expressed through them. “Exploring life as a woman in contemporary Africa,” she says, “I am affected by urbanization in different situations – from gender issues, personal memory, identity and space, to the implications of living in a technological “supermarket” age.”
Suzaan Heyns | Fashion designer
The one question that Suzaan Heyns gets asked more than most, “where do you get your inspiration from?”, is incendentally the one she cannot stand – purely because there is no absolute answer. Rather, she believes that inspiration is a journey and so instead of starting at the beginning she’ll be illustrating the ride.
Tegan Bristow | Interactive media artist and lecturer at Wits
To reveal more about her creative process in the production of interactive artworks, Tegan Bristow will touch on how she leads art audiences into interactive experiences through single works of art and how movement and face tracking become models for meaning making. Her talk will also include a demo on how the Xbox Kinect sensor actually works in helping her make art.
Date: Wednesday, 13 August 2014
Venue: Jozi Hub (44 Stanley Avenue)
Spaces are limited, so if you’d like to join us at our Creative Women Show & Tell please RSVP below. Hope to see you there!
