The Long Table

The Long Table
In association with the Light From Africa Foundation and Art in The Forest, 100% Design South Africa will be presenting The Long Table – an exhibition and outreach programme designed especially for the show. Many of South Africa’s top ceramicists working with Art in The Forest will be showcasing their current work on a beautifully styled long table alongside a shop selling their work. 100% of all profits made at Art In The Forest, a non-profit social enterprise and centre of ceramic excellence and education led by Anthony Shapiro, is donated to the Light From Africa Foundation.

100% Office

Doktor and Misses

In a special feature called 100% Office, dynamic Joburg design duo Adriaan Hugo and Katy Taplin of Dokter and Misses will push the thinking on how to create a modern office. In collaboration with Swazi based grass-weaving company Gone Rural and with seating by Dauphin HumanDesign Group, they will design a contemporary workplace which will see an unexpected landscape of sleek urban lines contrasted with organic textures.

Featured Designer: Atang Tshikare

Atang Tshikare

Self-developed multidisciplinary artist Atang Tshikare will be showcasing new works including collaborations with Andile Dylvane and Robin Sprong and will be demonstrating his remarkable skills by painting and drawing live at the show. Atang’s work captures the essence of the confidence of his generation in Africa through urban-style surface design, collaborative work and painting. He has worked on various surfaces including sneakers/shoes, wood, metal and plastic, canvas and paper. His work, a combination of line drawing and street art, is created across various mediums from pencil and marker to acrylic and aerosol.
