Introducing Levi’s Pioneer Nation

Celebrating the brave spirits who recognise opportunities, take chances and face their challenges head on, Levi’s Pioneer Nation is a unique 16 hour festival in the heart of Johannesburg’s Braamfontein district.

The world has changed and Young South Africans are entering an economy with fewer corporate jobs and greater global competition. In spite of the fact that in some cases, their academic and skills-based preparation might have been below global standards, young people today are more positive, passionate and creative than ever.

Pioneer Nation is about inspiring the pursuit of originality. Celebrating productivity with purpose fuelled by passion. Encouraging the dogged self- confidence needed to thrive. Romanticizing tenacity by sharing the journeys of hard work necessary to succeed. Pioneer Nation is about transforming a generation with good ideas into a generation of doers and worldbeaters.

More than a festival, Pioneer Nation is a vehicle that aims to inspire, inform and entertain. On 25 September an interactive daytime programme will bring together 40 modern Pioneers to candidly share their backstories, entrepreneurial insights and practical wisdom in 15-minute presentations. New speakers are being announced each week but the line-up so far includes Luvuyo Rani (Silulo Ulutho Technologies), Justin Koetzee (GoMetro), GreenPop (tree-preneurs), the Department of Coffee, Thembi Tsotetsi (Kaltsha Glass) and our very own Uno de Waal of Between 10and5.

In addition to the festival, has been designed as a resource for the young and eager looking to go from insight to idea to income and will become a hub for sharing the stories of hundreds of inspiring local and international Pioneers.

Tickets for Pioneer Nation 2014 cost R100 and include an event pack with a bag, stationery and food coupons. Register early to ensure your spot.

Keep an eye out for 6 video profiles of Pioneers and some exclusive interviews, coming soon to 10and5.
