Openings This Week: JHB | Creative Futures, 2 solo exhibitions and A MAZE.

There is so much to do in Joburg this week with the A MAZE. International Games and Playful Media Festival AND the British Council/Connect ZA’s Creative Futures Festival going down, a Design Share Party, the Fak’ugesi artist residency exhibition with legendary digital artist Yuri Suzuki local Bogosi Sekhukhuni,  plus two solo exhibition openings by Sam Nhlengetwa and Bongani Khoza.

Together with the exciting multimedia closing party, another highlight of the festival is the evening of open talks with industry leaders in the fields of Business in the Digital Age, the Business of Fashion, and Music Promotion.

Returning to Johannesburg for the third time, the festival once again invites game developers, digital artists, forward thinkers, entrepreneurs, and digital activists together to exchange tools, skills and ideas in the fields of independent games and playful media. The festival provides an intensive programme of lectures, panels, screenings, games, interactive installations, street games, wokshops, performances, concerts, and a party.

In his third and final tribute show Sam Nhlengethwa portrays the imagery of famous artists who have made an impression on him, and whose work places before us questions about progress and the limits of representation.

Fak’ugesi Digital Africa Festival: Artist in Residence exhibition




British – Japanese artist, Yuri Suzuki will be collaborating with South African digital artist Bogosi Sekhukhuni, in the production of digital musical instruments, performance and installation focusing on Johannesburg’s inner city music culture.
