12 Sep Oh Wow! – Making Up History, Ethereal Paintings and a 1600 sq ft Chalk Mural.
Today we’re getting lost in an archive of important (and sometimes made up) moments in history, gaping at a 1600 square foot chalk mural that took 3 days to complete and looking at some gorgeous, whimsical paintings.
“Every day, in an effort to contribute to the general interestingness of the internet, or perhaps just to flex our story telling powers, we pick an important moment in history and adapt our Facebook profile picture to illustrate the occasion. Of course it wouldn’t be fair if all the fun was had by our designers, so our copy team are tasked with distilling an often overwhelming amount of information down to a titbit or two. They try not make stuff up but occasionally minds are lost and things get silly, don’t hold it against us.”
TWO – Henry Goes Home, a sneak peek of an upcoming book by Kirsten Sims.
THREE – Nonku Phiri photographed by Gabriella Achadinha for an interview with c-heads magazine. Styling by Asher Daniel, retouching and layout by Marlize Eckard, clothing by Smith & Abrahams and 2Bop.
SIX – Branding by Chris Moore for SALUD Taqueria, a pop-up Mexican restaurant that will be dishing up contemporary South American fare and providing a lively meeting space as part of Sussex Open Studios – an interactive lifestyle destination, exhibition space and exciting new residential development all rolled into one.
SEVEN – A chalk mural by Ben Johnston for the new Sierra Nevada brewery in Asherville, North Carolina. The 1600 sq ft mural took over 3 weeks to complete and shows the process of beer making. See more process pics.
EIGHT – Ethereal paintings by Cape Town based artist, Sarah Biggs.
