It’s the end of yet another work week and almost the end of another month. Grab an escape from the maddening flash-flood of time-passing with a meander through our collection of lovely new things from the world of art and design. Today we’re looking at the latest Art54 public installation on the Sea Point promenade; gorgeous embellished notebooks by Essie Letterpress; #plantsonplantsonplants; a collaboration between SA brand Quamta and colette, Paris; ethereal illustrations by Jade Klara; and eye-ball pizza and other drawings from group exhibition, BAZOOKA. We’re listening to music from oh dark arrow, Native Young and Sannie Fox. Enjoy this “Wow!”-worthy list
ONE – Haroon Gunn-Salie‘s Kom Oor Die See was installed on the Sea Point promenade on Heritage Day as the next public piece in the Art54 programme. Named after Ward 54 (Bantry Bay to Camps Bay) Art54 was initiated by ward councillor Beverley Schäfer and Elad Kirshenbaum. The sculpture’s text and title is a line from folk song Daar Kom die Alibama.
FOUR – South African luxury accessory label, Quamta, presents the Pebble Coin Purse, a collaboration with colette. Finished in the signature colette blue, each piece has been handcrafted in South Africa from the finest natural crocodile leather and will soon be available from September at colette, 213 Rue Saint-Honoré, Paris as well as via the colette online store, www.colette.fr.
SEVEN – Some of BAZOOKA, a group show by the Mega Bonanza collective that opened at Kalashnikovv Gallery last night. Mega Bonanza is: Maaike Bakker, PJ Kotze, Werner Burger, Nina Torr. Work by Maaike and Nina featured in our You Draw Like A Girl exhibition earlier this month and goes on sale online next week! Stay tuned.
Jade also featured in our You Draw Like A Girl exhibition which goes on sale online next week! Stay tuned.
