For aspiring filmmakers Jameson First Shot could seem like a too good to be true scenario, except that it actually happens – every year. We attended the premiere of last year’s winning films in Los Angeles and met with the previous winners so can tell you that it really is as once-in-a-lifetime as it sounds. News is that entries for the 2015 competition are now open.
To enter, hopefuls from South Africa, Russia, the US, UK, Ireland, India, Australia and Canada need to submit a script for a short film that reveals “with a lightness of touch, the epic that is to be found in everyday experiences.” Each finalist’s script will be judged by Kevin Spacey, Dana Brunetti and the rest of the award-winning Trigger Street Productions (The Social Network, Captain Phillips). Three writer/directors will be chosen to fly to Hollywood to have their short film made by Trigger Street starring Oscar-winning star (and complete dreamboat) Adrien Brody. Scripts will be rated on shot and sound selection, freshness, structure, and most of all, storytelling ability.
The closing date for entries is 1st February 2015 (17:00 GMT).
