Fantasma’s Wildly Animated Music Video for ‘Shangrila’

Just last week Fantasma released their latest track ‘Want Your Love‘ feat. Nandi and Nongoma. The five-man collective are back at it and treating us again with a brand new music video for ‘Shangrila’ feat. Moonchild, which premiered yesterday.

The video features the zany illustrations of Otto Splotch, energetically swirling all over and around footage of a blue haired Moonchild and the all-white clad members of Fantasma making sand angels. It’s pretty fantatsic. The animation team who brought Otto’s drawings to life are the folks at Paris based studio, Golgotha.

“’Shangrila’ was a song we wrote the first day we all got together to make music,” Spoek Mathambo told FADER. “Spoko and I doubled on beatmaking duties, while Bheki and Andre went in on layering guitar and bass parts. ‘Shangrila’ originally featured Bheki singing about how all murderers are going to burn in hell…but the summer was more about love and sunshine, so that theme came in. I invited Moonchild to re-sing the lyrics I laid down, I’ve always loved the texture and attitude in her voice.”

Fantasma’s debut LP, Free Love, will be released on 10 March.
