25 Feb The Adventures of Kento Itoh | A Photo Essay By Ape Town Shenanigans
Ape Town Shenanigans is a photography platform started by Aubrey Ndiweni to showcase his work with the aim of becoming well known for capturing the beauty one can only find in madness, for the ability to create mind boggling content and for celebrating the hearty soul of ‘Ape Town’ and its people. It is in that very spirit that the site introduces The Adventures of Kento Itoh, a photo essay that’s full of life.
The mysterious subject of the series is Kento Itoh, a cultural enthusiast from Tokyo, Japan who has been travelling the world for the past six years preaching hope and happiness. On a visit to Cape Town he descended upon its shores with his Jesus-like long hair, armed with his Samurai sword and clad in a kimono (not unlike a superhero) spreading love and positivity, and embracing all the people he met along his way with an open heart. Aubrey tells us, “He came from the ocean, moved through the Cape of Good Hope, Gugulethu and Woodstock sharing his teachings of peace and good old fashioned hope before finally returning to the ocean again…” But not before Ape Town Shenanigans could photograph his journey meeting locals and seeing the sites.
