Hooray, it’s Friday! And we have an awesome new Oh Wow! for you with a brilliantly animated music video, an experimental rap project and a story about a zombie apocalypse in the Karoo.
ONE – Surreal, morphing characters in a frame by frame animation by MUTI to accompany the launch of Akira’s self-titled debut EP. It’s a lucid pop album inspired by mid-eighties animation and is available for free download here.
TWO – Limericks For The Amusement Of Civilians is the debut EP/experimental rap project of Death to the Dendrites which “speaks to the nuances of the post-colonial African condition.”
THREE – Oppikoppi announced the theme for this year’s festival, The Fantastic Mr. VOS VOS, with artwork by Renee Rossouw and a logo designed by Jana + Koos. More info (and check out the fantastic site!) at: www.oppikoppi.co.za
FIVE – Ceramic Factory presents My World, their Fall/Winter collection exploring combinations of ceramics with glass, wood and steel.
SEVEN – Out of nowhere O’ltak dropped The Inner Hue; a set of 23 (!) new glitchy/otherwordly beats.
EIGHT – In ‘Left Spaces’, androgynous and futuristic fashion is contrasted with the worn textures of ageing buildings. Photography by Irma Bosch, styling by Jessica Rayne, hair & make-up by Kelly Jean Gilbert.
