It’s fairly universal, that puckered, face-scrunching grimace. Eyes water and lips shrivel, as the molten fire burns its way down the esophagus. Salt and lemon may add some respite, but it’s still pretty hard to maintain an attractive demeanour. Everyone has one, and it’s likely to come out on a big night when it probably shouldn’t: the tequila face.
When the guys at Ireland/Davenport advertising agency were approached to do the designs for the Dirty Rotten Tequila Festival, happening at Carfax, Johannesburg on May 1, they sensed an opportunity for visual fun. So they got their friends to drink tequila in front of the camera, capturing each poor soul’s tequila face at 200 frames per second. The results are enough to make anyone smile, whether in sympathy or self-recognition.
