The Same Craving in a Fresh Approach to Advertise Chicken Licken’s Hotwings

In past advertising, the infamous Chicken Licken Hotwings craving has taken over a poor man’s brain function causing him to lose ‘left’ and has taken the form of an ever-growing, very orange orangutang. In the latest Hotwings advertising the evidence of ‘the craving’ is secondary to the storyline. This isn’t the only difference in approach though; instead of a television commercial, the advertising takes on a mini web series format released in episodes. The regular installments are set inside a Chicken Licken at the drive-through window where Tsala Senior and Tsala Junior work while animatedly discussing the ins and outs of their lives.

While the two colleagues chat, complain or laugh about dealing with a house music DJ for a boyfriend, a direction-less husband or a son who’s discovered a new passion for homework via a cute study buddy, the same (really creepy) customer keeps coming back for his regular helping (fix) of ‘Hotwings Party 16’.

The ads are directed by comedian Kagiso Lediga and have been released on the Chicken Licken Youtube channel. In the latest episode Tsala Senior’s man, Jaftha, has recently discovered social media…much to her dismay.
