24 Apr New Balance #IComrades | Runners Share The Inspiring Reasons Why They’re Tackling The Comrades
We can think of a few reasons not to run 90 kms, but in a new branded content series for New Balance by King James Group, four unlikely runners share their personal and inspiring reasons (mid-run) for entering the 2015 Comrades Marathon on the 31st of May.
If you’re going to push the limits of human endurance, you’d better have a good reason. #IComrades brings you the stories, reasons and training behind 4 runners preparing to tackle the world’s oldest ultra marathon – The Comrades – proudly sponsored by New Balance.
Shayla Bailes woke up from a two week coma after a car accident having lost the ability to walk or talk. Seven years later she is taking on this monster of a marathon as a celebration of how far she’s come. Kabelo Sekete says he is doing the run for “The look on their faces. Part “is he mad?” and part “I wish I was that mad”.” Never having run competitively or as exercise before last year, he’s looking to shake up his life with one big challenge. Richard Pretorius on the other hand has run the race 9 times, and says that 9 times it has saved his life from bad health. The fourth story is from Phindi Gule who last year missed the finishing gun by 7 seconds. This year she is back to fiercely finish what she started.
