05 May Urban Grunge and Bold Natural Contrasts in Two Shoots for Merwe Mode
In a recent collaboration photographer Gabriella Achadinha and stylist Asher Daniel worked on two shoots for Cape Town fashion label, Merwe Mode. The first is a sweet, urban grunge love story bathed in golden sunlight. The second moves away from the city to contrast bold printed garments with natural tones and textures.
Toying with the idea of creating a fashion label that had both the flare of European street style and a distinctly African flavour, Deeva van der Merwe founded Merwe Mode in 2013. Shortly thereafter, she was joined by Sarah Wocknitz who came on board to help design a brand identity and fine tune the fit of the garments. The brand’s signature is clean cut androgyny; simple lines with subtle and quirky details.
