11 May The Raft | A Cinematic Trailer by Mr Alexander for Fred Strydom’s Debut Novel
Fred Strydom’s debut novel ‘The Raft’ imagines a world where humankind has collectively lost its memory. The book tells the story of one man Kayle Jenner’s odyssey following a vague and haunting vision of his son.
“The day every person on earth lost his and her memory was not a day at all. In people’s minds there was no actual event … and thus it could be followed by no period of shock or mourning. There could be no catharsis. Everyone was simply reset to zero.”
This trailer, conceived and directed by Gordon Lindsay for Mr. Alexander, announces the launch of the novel and cinematically captures the essence of the story’s sweeping narrative. A man’s movement through a broken and unrelenting world is set to moodful music by Nakhane Toure.
Gordon joined Velocity Films as a researcher in 2007 working with many of the country’s top directors while honing his visually-driven style and directing music videos for South African musicians Tumi and the Volume, Reason and Good Luck. In 2014, he joined newly appointed Executive Producer Peter Carr at bouffant. ‘The Raft’ was produced under new production company, Mr. Alexander.
