By now you’ve probably seen or at least heard of the Nando’s ‘Rites and Duties’ Exhibition at Constitution Hill. This show was curated from Nando’s extensive collection of South African art and opened at The Old Fort at Constitution Hill ahead of Freedom Day 2015. Aside from their long standing relationship with Nando’s, each of the artists were chosen because their work speaks of South Africa’s heritage and has a connection to the complex layers of history of the space within which it is exhibited. With the title, location, choice of artists, works and the opening date all touching on freedom, this video tour asks the artists and curators to elaborate on the subject and to contextualise the show. Enjoy!
‘Rites and Duties’ is free and open to the general public until 22 May 2015.
Times: Weekdays 9am-4pm and Weekends 10am -3pm.
Venue: The Old Fort at Constitution Hill – 11 Kotze Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
