20 May A Holidaying Dachshund in Postcards for The Concierge
An adventurous sausage dog, the mascot for Durban boutique hotel The Concierge, lives a life of leisure in this series of illustrated postcards by Sean Crozier. With over 20 years of graphic design experience behind him, Sean spends much of his time illustrating characters of all shapes and sizes for various clients and campaigns, particularly enjoying bringing a contemporary edge to otherwise quirky work.
For this project Sean was asked to illustrate a Dachshund enjoying the lifestyle on offer in Durban and the luxury served up at The Concierge for a set of postcards to be left in the hotel rooms. These act as keepsakes but also provide information on what to do with your time in the east coast city. For example, “Take a walk along Durban’s upgraded Golden Mile beachfront walkway” or “Grab a leash and go for a surf in the Indian Ocean. No wetsuit needed with an average water temp of 22°C”.
Sean referenced retro travel posters for the look and feel and chose colours to represent the warmth and vibrancy of Durban and The Concierge Hotel, whose boutique bungalows were designed as a collaborative and conceptual effort between Egg Designs and Modern Museum.
