19 Jun Serious Silhouettes and Playful Prints in Adriaan Kuiters + Jody Paulsen’s AW15 Collection
With the launch of the Adriaan Kuiters + Jody Paulsen AW15 collection, a two-year collaboration between fashion designer and artist comes to an end – a final hoorah for the duo, but also the start of an exciting new direction for the brand which will be driven solely by Keith Henning from now on.
Keith and Jody’s last range together is a bit darker than what has come before it, with pieces that make an urban departure from last summer’s resort approach. “We introduced printed leather goods and focused on outerwear such as reversible raincoats and bomber jackets, and included fitted, tailored dresses in a range of knits and crêpes,” says Keith. While strictly speaking there are womenswear and menswear segments to the collection, there is a very fine line between the two and many of the items end up being unisex.
As we’ve come to expect from the duo, the AW15 collection maintains Jody’s signature prints which bring something playful to the mix. He collaborated with renowned printmaking studio Warren Editions to develop them, ranging from cartoonish raindrops over zebra print to colourful constructivist collage.
The styling for the lookbook, once again shot by the ever-fantastic Nico Krijno, was inspired by the way Mia Wasikowska’s character dressed in the film ‘Maps to the Stars’. “We love the way her character wore gloves with boxy T-shirts,” Keith and Jody explain.
Extending its accessories range, Adriaan Kuiters’ first sock range was introduced from mid-June this year as part of the new collection. “We wanted to offer shoppers an affordable option for getting something from the collection and that can be worn in any way they like,” says Jody. The process of creating the AW15 range served as Keith’s research and preparation for the brand’s upcoming Spring/Summer range, which promises to be the most luxurious yet.
