Richard Brokensha’s first solo music video was released today and it’s absolutely beautiful. ‘Here I Go Again’ voices the habitual elements of human nature and how despite trying to avoid our addictions, we are often overwhelmed by the feeling that has a hold on us. Directed by Brett de Vos, whose work we featured earlier this year, the video is captivating with its dramatic storyline and stunning visuals.
Also a member of Isochronus (ISO), Richard was on a tour in Den Haag and Amsterdam when the concept for this music video was decided. “Brett de Vos, a director I had worked with on a few music videos before, had been living there for a while, so I got in touch with him and we decided to develop a concept for my first single ‘Here I Go Again’,” he explains.
In the video we see Richard and two dancers in a parallel world of struggles and peace; Richard’s quest for peace and the couple’s quest for resolution to their struggles. “When I wrote the song I wanted to express my struggle in the music industry as well as the social environment that so many of us have been swallowed in by in terms of social media. At the same time I wanted to create a picture of a relationship that shows the struggle and resolution between two lovers, and how that habitually repeats itself”, says Richard.
To have dance as the focus in an unconventional manner, the two Italian dancers were required to act whilst using dance as the medium to express the concept of the video, and they delivered a bewitching performance.
