01 Jul LAND’s New Lookbook Created For Whims and Fantasies
In March this year Jessica Sutherland launched a new collection under her label LAND. Inspired by naps in the winter sun, the AW15 Work/Dreamwear collection is made from soft fabrics perfect to curl up in during the cold weather. Jessica picked out comforting fabrics that felt easy to sink into and disappear. The fabric choice then inspired the shape and fit of the collection.
After pulling together a cohesive collection in under a month, the AW15 Work/Dreamwear was launched at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Joburg (MBFWJ). “The work wear/dream wear idea is centered around producing items that don’t have to plug into a traditional format in order to be seen by your market. Producing less for seasonal demand and more for whims, fantasies, 3 am ideas, artist/designer collaborations and the occasional longer length narrative that needs a few pieces to tell its story”, says Jessica.
With the use of props like milk, headphones, a popsicle, thread and donuts, this collection’s new lookbook depicts such whims and fantasies with images that seem to have been constructed around stories of their own.
