Afrikaans Rap/Electro Trio Bittereinder’s Music Video for ‘Hartseer Gangster’

“It sounds like rap, but it feels like Afrikaans” is what the Pretoria-based Bittereinder trio – Jaco van der Merwe, Louis Minnaar and Peach van Pletzen – say of their music. In the brand new video for ‘Hartseer Gangster’, the boys personify this and appear heavily tattooed, driving sports cars and crying into dollar billz while saying things like “ek’t ‘n facebook page vir my gang gemaak”. The first single off Bittereinder’s upcoming album Dance Tot Die Dood, ‘Hartseer Ganster’ is a singalong version of the tragic comedy of life. According to the band, “Pumping this song in your car with the window rolled down is the best way to give your pesky existential angst the blinged-up finger.”
