02 Oct Queer Eye for the Straight Bard: A Photoshoot Inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s Iconic ‘Romeo & Juliet’
Brace yourself Cape Town, a new blog called Koeksisters has just launched. The site, run by Jo Jackson, is aimed at “badass ladies” in Cape Town doing great things within the creative sphere. The idea stems from a desire to let the world know more about Queer Cape Town and South Africa in general.
A new lookbook, Romeo, by photographer Gabriella Achadinha pays homage to Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 cult film Romeo + Juliet. This queer reimagining of Luhrmann’s iconic film will leave you yearning for more. Styled by Gabriella and Jo, the different looks evoke a nostalgic West Coast 90s aesthetic.
It is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man.
The gentle sin is this:
If love be rough with you, be rough with love;
The world is not thy friend, nor the world’s law.
