23 Oct Effortless Edgy: Thoki Tafeni’s Summer Collection in a Crisp Shoot by Caroline Mackintosh
Thoki Tafeni’s summer collection, Bent is a powerful expression of femininity with clean lines and silhouettes. The name of the range draws inspiration from Seattle’s famous bar Vito’s and style from the American Jazz Age. “I took elements of vintage tailoring and translated it into modern edgy attire,” says Thoki. For her, minimalist design is beautiful in that it’s a form of communicating an idea or a feeling in an uncomplicated manner. “The sophistication and elegance of minimalist design is what I love and what draws me to it.” The pieces are shown here in a crisp lookbook photographed by Caroline Mackintosh and in a dreamy fashion film by Alistair Blair.
Currently Thoki is working on a new range for AW’16 which will be showcased at Vancouver Fashion Week in March next year. In the meantime, keep up with her on Instagram.
