Pichulik launched their first seaside chic clothing and shoe range inspired by Italy but made with the South African summer in mind. Structured yet loose, clean-cut and easy going, the Nolita collection is worn like an effortless backdrop to accentuate the brand’s trademark jewellery. Co-designed by Nadya von Stein and Megan Taljaard, all clothing is made with hand-dyed hemp fabric which is an eco-friendly, carbon-negative and pesticide-free natural fibre that blocks out UV rays. Even though the collection is utilitarian, stylistically it retains an effortless simplicity that’s luxurious and practical.
Garment-wise there are bell-shaped high-waisted trousers, palazzo pants with sheer detailing, shift dresses, rope halterneck dresses and high-waisted full-circle pants. “Our fashion collections will be complementary to the core offering of the brand, its jewellery. We do not want to put any restraints on what it will be and the designs will change from season to season, but it will always have very clear conceptual and visual links to the jewellery collection for that season”, says Pichulik. In keeping with the brand’s signature style, the garments use half moon cut-outs which conceptually resonate with shapes present in the Lena jewellery collection and allow the clothing to breathe on hot summer days.
Made in collaboration with Espadril SA and to complete Pichulik’s summer look are tailor-made espadrils in yellow, black, white and gold. Contrasting with the monotone clothing palette, they’re a complimentary addition to the clothing range and can be worn as a single staple item or paired with their accessories.
The Nolita collection and Pichulik jewellery are available online or from Work Shop New Town in Johannesburg and The Watershed Market, Espadril’s new Bree Street store and the AKJP Collective in Cape Town.
