Diamond Thug’s Surreal and Picturesque Music Video for ‘Long Way’ Set in the Cape Peninsula

Music is often good company on the journey of self-reflection—an otherwise solitary and sometimes lonely process. Cape Town based alt- pop band Diamond Thug have just released the music video for their single ‘Long Way’ which opens to a surreal and picturesque dystopia, detailing the individual journeys of four characters.

Filmed in the scenic Cape Peninsula and directed and produced by Dirk Van Niekerk and Michelle Nel of Steamcat Productions, the video makes use of slow, measured shots which play intelligently with the notion of time and individually experienced realities. The video is the perfect accompaniment to the song which makes use of groovy, rhythmic guitar melodies and moody synthesisers.

Having recently won a recording experience in Boston, USA through the Converse Rubber Tracks Global Takeover competition, Diamond Thug recorded ‘Long Way’ with sound engineer and Boston rock legend Dave Mineham.

This isn’t the first time the band have teamed up with Steamcat Productions. Watch their music video for ‘Waiting on the Sun’ here
