17 Dec WISHLIST: A Mixed-bag of Goodies by Jeanne Gaigher
Our next guest curated WISHLIST comes curtesy of Cape Town painter Jeanne Gaigher, who blasted onto the contemporary art scene this year with a near sold out debut solo exhibition at Smith Gallery and presentation at the FNB JoburgArtFair. Jeanne’s paintings are strongly evocative and capture a distinct moody atmosphere. Using layers of paint, scrim mesh and layered printing techniques, Jeanne’s work speaks to the permeability of time and the fluidity of experience. Her all-local list of covetable gifts includes quite a range of things, from high fashion items to woven tapestries and fiery ginger beer. Take a look below:
1/ A piece from Lukhanyo Mdingi’s Taintless collection. It would be fantastic if I could wear it all.
2/ I’m slowly but surely building up my Jungle Jim collection; a bimonthly African pulp fiction magazine.
3/ Bluetooth speaker form Shibby Beats made from walnut wood. It boasts clear, quality sound and naturally enhanced bass.
4/ A luxe handwoven towel for the beach from Mungo.
5/ Playfully psychedelic wallpaper by artist Marlene Steyn.
6/ A handwoven tapestry from The Kraal Gallery in Stellenbosch.
7/ This bed-cum-hideout by David Krynauw.
8/ An endless supply of Dragon Fiery Ginger Beer for the summer.
