#NowPlaying: ‘Cocktales’ by Philippus Johan Schutte

If Philippus Johan Schutte could make a living by creating mixes and mixtapes, he might just wave au revoir to his other creative pursuits and spend his days and nights mix’n it up – and making our ears very, very happy. Until his DJ dreams come true, Philippus is a graphic designer and photographer whose varied and conceptual work is characterised by playful colour palettes and tongue in cheek humour. If you haven’t yet, read our recent interview with him here.

But that’s not what you came here for, is it? Cue Cocktales; the ultra-groovy, hour long live mix that Philippus made for this special summertime edition of #NowPlaying.

Here’s what Philippus had to say:

“I imagine Cocktales as the name of a very fun queer beach bar that pops up once a month in a different city around the world. I imagine it to embody Todd Terje’s attitude towards the Strandbar: braggy, festive, a little bit sleazy and very easy. I imagine it from a time that doesn’t exist yet, but hopefully, someday, will. I imagined I got to play there and recorded my set.”

Call your friends over for an impromptu pool party and turn it up.
