Passionate independent filmmakers Sihle Hlophe and Dineo Lusenga together with Passion Seed Communications are using crowdfunding to finance their film, Nomfundo. It tells the story of a troubled young woman, whose life is changed after a transcendental encounter with someone she holds close to heart. The duo were tired of the red tape and issues around filmmaking in SA and turned to Thundafund with the idea “to use Nomfundo the short film as a calling card in order to get funding for a feature-length version”.
Dineo has worked at YFM and 5FM and acted in popular shows like Intersexions and Mutual Friends, while Sihle has been working in the film and television industry for 8 years writing for local television programmes and recently directed the short film, As I Am, which has screened in Switzerland, the USA and Tanzania. They’ve got 17 days to reach their milestone and hope to garner the support of those who want to positively contribute to towards creating SA films.
