05 Jul Photo Essay: Exploring the Land of the Red Dragon with Anthony Bila

Anthony Bila recently travelled to China to visit the headquarters of Huawei Mobile South Africa and shared some sublime photographs with us. His striking images paint the mainland as a place that is fuelled by urban synergy and yet, in between the highways and skyscrapers, there are pockets of lush green spaces that evoke a quieter, more contemplative mood.

“These are some of the images from the inexplicably unique experience. I believe the cliché of a picture being worth a thousand words to be true, so I’ll let them speak to you. I hope you enjoy seeing a different part of the world through my eyes. P.S. A lot of the people I came across had rarely seen a black African. I think I got more photographs taken of me than I actually took. Wonderfully weird,” he said of the experience.
