The 100% Design contemporary showcase is around the corner, set to take place from 5 to 9 August 2016 at the Gallagher Convention Centre alongside Decorex Joburg. We’re excited to share this year’s 100% Talent lineup, which once again presents an interesting mix of emerging designers and product makers onto the local design scene. N T Design Studio is the moniker of Durban based architect, artist and maker Nikhil Tricam. Hist varied product range includes pen and ink illustrations, intricate henna decorated objects and leatherwear.
Made By Architects is a group of practicing Architects who are passionate about design across all scales, from buildings to consumer goods. The group aims to produce beautiful design, with a special emphasis on architectural qualities and principles. They produce limited edition furniture as well as once-off bespoke projects.
Hoi P’loy is the Cape Town lighting company of Ploy Phiromnam and Guy van der Walt. The brand offers a distinct vintage lighting solution in the form of feature bulbs, cables and fittings that are based on some of the original bulb designs of Thomas Edison. The handcrafted antique style products are made from quality materials and come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and element styles.
Notation Design creates furniture and decor made from concrete, metal and wood. The studio also completes entire interior spaces, from conceptualising to installing the fittings as well as creates custom designs for any space a client might need.
Saks Corner is a heritage furniture store that producers contemporary furniture ranges that include sofas, tables, storage and lifestyle items. The designs are characterised by simple lines with a vintage feel.
Bbellamy & Bbellamy designs and produces handmade textiles out of a studio in Muizenberg. With an environmental slant, the label only uses low-toxicity, water soluble inks on biodegradable base cloths that don’t generate landfill or ocean plastic.
Damn Good Looking produces a range of things in small batches with great care and attention to detail. The label’s view is that handmade does not mean a lower-quality product, rather unique variations and constant improvement of the design with each round of production.
Mash T Design is an interior and event decor design studio that offers full service design – from concept design to procurement and installation, commercial establishments such as boutique hotels, restaurants and retail stores.
Jasper Eales creates fun and functional gear for the active and ocean enthusiasts. With design principles premised on essentialism and sustainability, each original piece is intended to be timeless and useful.
Caroline Schulz Vieira Ceramics is a ceramicist who creates covetable and practical eatware that ranges from salt servers to platters. Her work is characterised by organic shapes, colours and forms.
