Better Half: The vintage label uniting the past and present

Photographed by Anke Loots and conceptualised by vintage label Better Half, this lookbook makes retro apparel seem brand new. “Nothing haunts us like the vintage we didn’t buy,” is the philosophy bringing co-owners Sarah Byram and Shelley Lee together. Better Half came about when both women decided to merge their love for buying and selling once-off vintage treasures. What started out as individual quests for 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s gear united into the joint pursuit of making it easier for individuals to choose personal style over fleeting fashion.

Bucket hats, dungarees and sporty windbreakers are key to this laid-back sporty style. The idea behind the lookbook plays on the kinship of the two sisters, Jodie and Justine Petersenn, as well as one of the sister’s relationships with her boyfriend, Nicolas van Graan, who is also featured. No matter if our better halves are family, lovers or friends, they’ll always have influence over our lives and other relationships.
