Five years of skating, travelling and good times neatly and stylishly packaged into 13 minutes can only mean one thing: The adidas crew have another video out.
Titled South and Beyond, the short film follows the adidas South Africa skate team as they move about the country, tearing up the most skateable and indeed, unskateable spots including underground parking lots, ripped up pavements, beat-up bowls, and endless flights of stairs.
Edited by Adriaan Louw and Pieter Retief, the short features the likes of Dlamini Dlamini, Yann Horowitz, Khulu Dlamini and Allan Adams, and boasts and all-local soundtrack including Thor Rixon, Bataleur, The Tazers and more.
As the local scene continues to showcase the talent of well-known skaters, as well as bring in fresh, young names, a skate film like South and Beyond serves as a stellar piece of documentation of a movement that’s only gaining more momentum.
