16 Nov Umlilo shares an androgynous street style lookbook
SA’s one and only Kwaai Diva Umlilo and photographer Stuart Hendricks took to the Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank to explore androgynous street style. Patterned shirts, shorts and metallic Nike high-tops create a relatively casual look for the artist compared to the highly stylised aesthetic of their music videos. Publicly documenting their personal style exploration puts a spotlight on gender fluid fashion within the context of street style. Umlilo reminds us that gendered fashion is a thing of the past allowing us greater freedom of expression, because we’re not confined to traditional expectations when it comes to deciding what to wear.
