AKJP go clean and minimal for their Spring/Summer 2017 lookbook

Summer is finally here, as can be seen in fashion collective AKJP‘s latest look book shoot. Adriaan Kuiters, Keith Henning, and artist Jody Paulsen collaborated to create a luxurious yet laid back collection, taking inspiration from Helmut Newton’s 1970’s erotic pool side images featuring iconic designers such as Halston and Pucci. The strikingly composed collection of photographs were shot by Cape Town based photographer Kent Andreasen
The lookbook sees elegant loose-fitting looks, pyjama-style silk trousers, dressing gown jackets, breezy shirts and a beautiful basket bag.
“We were inspired by Newton’s juxtaposition of sophisticated leisurely resort wear and the decadence of the seventies era. We liked the idea of making clothes that had the comfort of pajamas,” explain the trio. “We also focused on comfortability this summer through using breathable fabrics such as linens, silks and cottons.”
They also explain how an off beat print adds a touch of summer whimsy to the collection, “The print was made from images sourced from an old science textbook. We cut out various molecular representations of light into pebble-like shapes and collaged them onto a black surface. We wanted the print to feel decadent and rich in texture – similar to the surface of precious stones.”
