Last month in The Atlantic, fashion historian Kimberly Chrisman-Campbell wrote about how Sneakers Have Always Been Political Shoes. With the rising popularity of street-style fashion, sneakers have become global icons of identity representing an on-the-go zeitgeist that embodies political and cultural ideologies extending beyond the practical function of high performance sports shoes.
In their latest short film, Adidas Originals document their background, evolution and enduring legacy in the lead up to the launch of their 2017 #EQT sneaker. Although they’ve revamped the classic original and chosen Turbo Red as a key colour, the shoe still embodies their key minimalist philosophy, “Everything that is essential. Nothing that is not”.
