16 Oct Gallery: Faces and crowns spotted at Joburg’s Art of Hair get-together ?
Naturalistas, hair artists/crown specialists and hair street culture bloggers, plus more, recently attended natural hair care brand Alodia’s Learn, Love, Grow Natural Hair Pop Up. Hosted in Kramerville, the pop up aimed to continue conversations around natural hair in the country, and featured live hair demos, talks and scalp readings by Alodia founder Dr Isfahan Chambers-Harris.
The day closed off with The Art of Hair panel, moderated by 10and5’s Stefanie Jason, with panelists that included hair street culture blogger Nikiwe Dlova, whose Betty Evolves Hair Series exhibition is still on in Joburg, crown specialist Ncumisa Mimi Duma and Elle Decoration assistant editor Ntombenhle Shezi, who recently authored a piece on hair weaving techniques. US-Trinidadian photographer and filmmaker Brentton Wilson captured some of the faces and hairdos at the pop up.
