Black Hole: Artist Mame-Diarra Niang takes over inner city Joburg space with surreal walk-in installation

Paris-based Mame-Diarra Niang is known the world over for her arresting, minimalist photography. Recently the artist — who has lived between Ivory Coast, Senegal and France — took over the fifth floor of Stevenson’s Joburg gallery as part of a month-long residency. The result: a surreal and temporary black hole, made of looping video projections, a hologram and obscure live sound created on the spot by Mame-Diarra.

We explore Mame-Diarra‘s Black Hole installation. Check it out.
